Abstract (EN)
In the present study, the effects of different sublethal concentrations (2.00, 4.00, 6.00, 8.00, 10.00, 20.00, 50.00, 100.00 ?g/100 g diet) of fenthion, an organophosphate insecticide, was investigated about the potency to induce oxidative stress and effect on antioxidant systems with model organism of Galleria mellonella larvae. Protein, malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) enzyme activities were determined spectophotometrically. Fenthion treatment caused a decrease in protein levels, while an increase in MDA levels and CAT enzyme activity were observed. The lower doses of fenthion increased SOD activity of wax mount G. mellonella, whereas SOD activity was decreased by the higher doses. In conclusion the oxidative stress-inducing potential of fenthioneffects antioxidant enzymes such as CAT and SOD activity.
