Abstract (EN)

Recently, correspondingly with development in satellite technology, multichannel satellites have found a wide usage area in forestry researches. The aim of this study is to determine capacity of Carbon Storage using Remote Sensing Method in (productive) stands of Düzdağ Forest Management Chiefdom, Akkuş Forest Management Office, Giresun Regional Forest Office. For this purpose, sample stands selected in border of Düzdağ Forest Management Chiefdom. Breast height diameter of trees were measured in this selected stands and the value of volume per stand hectare was calculated using single entry volume charts determined for related stands. In the calculation of carbon storage capacity in Turkey Forests, BEF1 coefficient defined from Asan (1999) was used in this study. Four carbon classes were created using determined carbon storage capacities. According to these carbon classes, restricted classification was established on images of Landsat ETM + satellite for related each stand. When restricted classification was carried, maximum likelihood estimation method was used. In consequence of inspections, accuracy rate of general classification and Kappa statistic were 84,17 %, 0,7889 respectively and concluded that Carbon Storage Capacity could be determined using Remote Sensing Method.
