Abstract (EN)
In this thesis,it is aimed to give information about the most prefering green building certificate system called LEED and national energy efficiency regulations and also calculated heat losses, cooling loads and the energy simulations of Mechanical Engineering Building of Karadeniz Technical University. Existing heating system of the building was examined in terms of energy efficiency by the means of simulation program called HAP and suggested architectural improvements to reduce the current energy consumptions and subsequently new cooling system alternatives for Mechanical Engineering building were evaluated in order to determine the most energy efficiency system by using energy simulation results. According to the heat loss calculations and energy simulation results, suggestions have been made to reduce energy consumption. In case of refreshing the existing building windows as double-glazed window, the building's total annual energy consumption and total annual energy costs are decreased respectively 10,22 % and 6,1 %. While 10 cm rockwoll insulation is used for the roof of building, total annual energy consumption and total annual energy costs are reduced respectively 21,86 % and 13%. In the last suggestion that consists of double-glazed windows and 10 cm rockwoll insulation in the roof, energy efficiency of total annual energy consumption and total annual energy costs are respectively 31,4 % and 18,7 %.
