Abstract (EN)
Social activities (extra-curricular activities) at school can be defined as students? expressing themselves artistically, sportively and culturally, for the allowing emergence and development of their capabilities in these areas, giving students the opportunity to self-realization in the school enviroment, which contribute to personality development and character formation, free time activities.Free time activities are extremely important for training and socialization of the individual. These activities are also an integral part of school education. The purpose of this research is to measure the attitudes, behaviors and perspectives of the teachers working in high schools under the Ministry of National Education, to the of social activities and free times the of student activities. Population of this research is teachers who works in the Anatolian and vocational type (total 31) high schools in city center of the Gaziantep/Sahinbey. The sample is determined by stratified random sampling method. The sample group is consist by six vocational high schools (a hundred ten teachers) and six Anatolian type high schools(a hundred four teachers) (approximative two hundred fourteen teachers).In this research, Belgin Arslan?s questionnaire was used ?The effect of family?s socio-demographic characters on the child?s participatıon in the social activities at school (A Comparative study on 5th grade of primary school students in Turkey and in Holland)?- (Questionnaire Which Was Applied for Turkish teachers). Test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire were made. According to the data obtained from the Anatolian High School and Vocational High School teachers, attitudes and behaviors were evaluated by comparing.As a result: Ministry of National Education Is not enough place the important social activities improving the ability of students and training activities. The teachers cannot applicate the activities sufficiently effective due to lack of time and material. The teachers have no understanding of a planned and productive activity. Teachers and students think that these activities are not Important enough them. Teachers has been trained in terms of the activities. That?s why contribution waiting fort the student personality service in social activities has not been come true. It is thougt that social activities are the most important subject which both Ministry and teachers must think on. Key Words: Extracurricular Activities, Social Activities, Student Clubs, Recreation
