The role of personal knowledge management on the effects of self-leadership to transformational leadership: A study on the public healthcare managers

Abstract (EN)

This study is carried out to research the mediating role of personal knowledge management in the effect of self-leadership on transformational leadership. Healthcare managers working in Istanbul constitute the universe of the study. In the first part of the study, the concept of leadership, leadership theories and leadership styles are discussed. Self-leadership and transformational leadership styles have been examined in depth, and the dimensions of these leadership styles and recent studies on these leadership styles have been examined. In the second part of the study, the concept of personal information management, the dimensions of personal information management and studies on the subject in recent years are presented. In the third part of the study, details about the structure of the health sector, self-leadership in health services, transformational leadership and the place and importance of personal information management are presented. In the fourth part of the study, the role of personal information management in the effect of self-leadership on transformational leadership was investigated with an application on public health managers. In this section, the purpose and importance of the research, the research universe and the pilot study sample, the conceptual model of the research, the hypotheses of the research, the method used in collecting the research data, the limitations of this method, the explanations about the preparation of the data collection tool, the analysis and results of the data, the findings and the interpretation of the findings are explained in detail given. In the conclusion part, a general evaluation of the research findings has been made and theoretical and practical inferences have been made for academic and business life; Suggestions that are thought to be useful for further applications are presented. The data collection tool of the research is the survey method. After the adaptation studies of the scales into Turkish language and culture, validation is carried out with a pilot study of 225 people for the self and other assessment scales. 616 healthcare managers participated in the survey. As a result of the study, it was determined that personal knowledge management has a partial mediation role on the effect of self-leadership on transformational leadership.
