Abstract (EN)
Parkinson's disease is one of the most common chronic degenerative diseases of the nervous system. In Parkinson's disease, non-motor symptoms are seen as frequently as motor symptoms. Fatigue can occur in all stages of Parkinson's disease and leads to significant disabilities. The aim of this study is to analyze the psychometric properties of the Turkish version Parkinson Fatigue Scale. 96 patients with idiopathic Parkinson's disease were included in our study. Patients with dementia were excluded from our study. Structural validity, internal consistency and test - retest reliability of Parkinson Fatigue Scale were analyzed. For convergent validity, Fatigue Severity Scale and Modified Fatigue Impact Scale were used. Internal consistency was determined by the Cronbach's alpha coefficient. For test - retest reliability Parkinson Fatigue Scale repeated between seven to fourteen days after first measurements. Correlation found between the Parkinson Fatigue Scale and the Fatigue Severity Scale with Spearman's r=0.844 and the Modified Fatigue Impact Scale with Spearman's r=0,764 coefficients. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient, which indicates the internal consistency of the scale, was calculated as 0.947. In the test-retest reliability, the intra class correlation coefficient was found 0.928. Parkinson's Fatigue Scale showed strong correlations with Fatigue Severity Scale and Modified Fatigue Impact Scale. The scale has high internal consistency and test - retest reliability. Statistical analyzes showed that the Turkish version Parkinson Fatigue Scale was valid and reliable. Parkinson Fatigue Scale is suitable for use by researchers and healthcare professionals to assess fatigue.
