Part-time mothers working: A research in Kırklareli

Abstract (EN)
With the Industrial Revolution, the entry of women into working life and giving new roles to women by the family and society have brought up the concept of "working mother". Mothers who have difficulties in fulfilling these roles tend to prefer women's professions, part-time working or leaving from their working life completely or for a while when they have children. In this study, the evaluations of part-time working mothers living in Kırklareli province for part-time study were examined. In this context, 18 randomly selected mothers who work as part-time workers in Kırklareli are interviewed with a questionnaire, which contains 27 semi-constructed questions. Content analysis method has been applied to questionnaire analysis key and results has been examined. It can be stated that the the reason of working as part-time is a must for living and prefered because of being a mother, and mostly fathers are responsible for in-family money making and management process. Mothers, who are part-time workers, are able to balance their work and family responsibilities with success, and this leads them to positive state of mind, accordingly it is obtained that their children are affected positively too. It can also be stated that part-time working is a obstacle for their career goals, part-time mothers feel uneasiness for this situation.
