Components on environmental ethics in landscape architectureprogrammes and their contributions to students' environmentalawareness

Environmental damage caused by the changing human-environment relations as a result of industrial revolution has had consequences that can't be ignored today. Elimination of these results or reduction of their effects is a common problem of humanity and occupational groups. All occupational groups try/should try to have an environmentalist approach to their profession, have an ecologic, sustainable and environmentalist manner in their work and/or their product. Landscape architecture, which is in a direct relationship with the environment, should be aware of these problems and should has it's professional activities within the limits of environmental ethics. Environmental ethics education given in the education programmes is very important for present and future landscape architects to gain environmental responsibility and environmental awareness. In this context, to determine the adequacy and deficiencies in environmental ethics of landscape architecture educational programs in Turkey and to reveal the effects of the education given to the students perception of environmental ethics is the aim of this study. In this direction, content analyzes of the course contents for determined educational programs were made by using MAXQDA 2020 Analytics Pro. In addition to the analyzes, a survey was conducted with the students in the programs. By comparing the data obtained, it has been revealed that the amount of environmental ethics components in the programs does not directly affect the students' perception of the environment, the relationship between environmental components and the other components is broke and the students don't have enough knowledge about the concept.
