Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY The Investigation of Biochemical Levels of Effect of Polyamines on Leaf Rolling During Drought Stress The effects of three main polyamines (putrescine, spermidine and spermine) on the degree of leaf rolling, changes in the activity of peroxidase were investigated in Ctenanthe setosa during drought stress. In addition, the effect of stress on the amounts of reducing sugar, the changes in soluble protein, proline amounts and protein bands in the exojenic polyamine applicated leaves were determined. For this purpose, the changes in the degress of rolling leaves were studied morphologically. Changes in the activity peroxidase and the amounts of reducing sugar, proline, soluble protein were spectrophotometrically determined. The analysis show that, the exojenic application of polyamines delayed the leaf rolling. It was observed that peroxidase activity in polyamine applicated leaves was decreased according to control ones during drought stress. Also It was determined that putrescine and spermidine were caused an increase in the amount of proline and reducing sugar, in contrast spermine pressed this increase. And it was observed that the level of soluble protein in polyamine applicated plants was increased according to control ones during drought stress. Also we observed an increase in the amount of peroxidase, proline, reducing sugar and a decrease in soluble protein in polyamine applicated leaves and control ones during drought stress. As a result, reduced leaf rolling by polyamines could be explained with the increase amount of proline, reducing sugar and soluble protein. Also it was seen that peroxidase was not significantly effectual in this study. Key Words: Ctenanthe setosa, Polyamine, Peroxidase, Reducing Sugar, Proline, Leaf Rolling, Drought Stress. VI
