Abstract (EN)

When Turkey's economy examined, it is seen that Turkey's industrialization strategy began in the 1960s and 1970s and Turkey's economy was formed with import-substitution industrialization policy. In the 1980s, outward-oriented industrialization policies were implemented in Turkey's economy. In the post-1980 period, export-oriented industrialization policies were followed on the other hand, foreign trade has been liberalized and some important structural changes have been made in economic policy. In recent years, when we look at Turkey's economy it can be seen that the increase in imports is more than the increase in exports. Accordingly, the continuity the current account deficit is growing rapidly. In recent years Turkish Lira has begun to overvaluation, hence export-oriented industries has led to the use of imported inputs in order to maintain exports. Turkey's economy exports of industrial goods which has the largest share in exports depends on the feasibility of the imports of intermediate goods which have a significant share in imports The success of export-oriented industrialization policy is dependent of the development of intermediate and capital goods producing industries. If this development can not be achieved, the problem of foreign trade in Turkey's economy will continue to increase. To avoid this problem and to reverse the structural process, development strategies should be applied to industries those produce capital and intermediate goods. In this study,Turkey's import and export operations, which was done 2002: M01 - 2013: M12 period with the Adana, Ankara, Bursa, Denizli, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir, Kayseri and Konya, Kocaeli cities, analyzed to know whether or not interdependent. Whether interdependent. In the first step logarithm of import and export series were taken, and then first differences were taken and unit root test has been analyzed to know if it contains a unit root or not. As a result of these tests, and it was determined that import and export of the series contains a unit root. Then in order to understand whether the relationship between import and export of series Granger causality test is used.. As a result of these tests, it was found to have a variety of causality between import and export of series export and import operations in these provinces, 10 provinces in Turkey, has dependency relationship between each other. In the Granger causality test,it was found that import of Adana, Ankara, Izmir, Kayseri and Konya was dependent to export. On the other hand, it was found that export of İzmir and Kocaeli was dependent to import. In addition, in regression analysis of these provinces, export and import variables of all the provinces were statistically significant and it was found to be economically important.
