Şeref Akdik life and art

On the first chapter of this survey, the memoirs of Şeref Akdik, his interests in art, environmental effects and progress in his educational phrases, the process of conceiving his own world, the art environment he grew up, his journey to Europe, his contribution to Turkish Painting Art Republic Period, were instantly scrutinized. The condition of the period he lived, difficulties he came across in art education, the acquisitions he brought from foreign education, were discoursed. His western educational background, national and social cultural reflections were emphasized in his works. Şeref Akdik, one of the founders of Sovereign Painters and Sculptor Association, and his first steps to rationalize Turkish Paintings, his contributions are examined in this chapter. The second part is based on Şeref Akdik's educational life as an artist, his artifice environment, art comprehension, wording progress, educator and impressionistic aspects, curiosity about calligraphy and sculptor art, prices the artist got and exhibition he held, and the matter of fact creating him by pursuing his artificial line. In the subheading, how the artist adopts nature, presence, conduct and artistic personality, landscaping, still life, figural design, portraits, descriptive design and nude works explained, are synthesized. In the appendix part, the street which is called after the artist, sections of the documentary made by TRT (Turkish Radio Television) came up with the newspaper being in researcher process, journal, media news as almanac and other works are enclosed. Furthermore, we thought that samples which might be beneficial for later researches, take better place in the chapter called "Other Pictures". After sorting the works in a chronological order we also gave place to undated ones in our work. The aim of this study is to arouse interest in Seref Akdik's own style, originality and his place in Turkish Painting Art, and also not to forget prerequisite features an artist should have like versatility, patriotism, brave and direct expression, depending on our traditions.
