Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between Social Studies candidate teachers' academic procrastination, dimensions of perfectionism, conscientiousness, academic achievment and other research variables. The participants of the study were 517 candidate teachers (female:236; male: 281) who were studying at Afyon Kocatepe and Cukurova University Social Sciences Teaching, during the fall semester of 2013-2014 academic year. In this study to determine Social Studies teachers candidates' academic procrastination " Academic Procrastination Scale" which developed by Çakıcı (2003) was used. In order to determine Social Studies teachers candidates' perfectionism "Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale" developed by Frost, Marten, Lahart & Rosenblate (1990) and adapted to Turkish by Ozbay & Mısırlı-Tasdemir (2003) and to determine Social Studies teachers candidates' conscientiousness "Adjective Based Personality Scale" which developed by Bacanlı, Ilhan & Aslan (2009) was used. A personal information survey was developed to determine the various demographic characteristics of teachers candidates and other research variables. The research indicated that there is a significant difference between the Social Studies teachers candidates' academic procrastination and gender, grade level, daily internet usage time and type of education variables. It was found that there is a statistically significant negative correlation between academic procrastination and organisation, high personal standarts sub-scales of perfectionism. There is a statistically significant positive correlation between doubts about actions, parental criticism sub-scales of perfectionism and academic procrastination. However, no significant correlation was found between academic procrastination and parental expectations, concern over mistakes sub-scales of perfectionism. Finally, Negatively relationships are determined between Academic Procrastination and conscientiousness, academic achievement.
