Abstract (EN)

The improvement of physical and mental health in athletes may be related to the awareness of eating habits as well as the correct use of nutritional supplements. It has been suggested that this situation may also be associated with individuals' levels of psychological well-being. With this aim, the relationship between eating awareness, beliefs about sports nutritional supplements, and psychological well-being of students studying at Munzur University Faculty of Sports Sciences was aimed to be investigated. The population of the research consists of a total of 361 female and male students studying at Munzur University Faculty of Sports Sciences. No sample was used in the research, and 88.36% of the population (319 people) was reached. A total of 319 people participated in the research, with 217 male and 102 female participants. A socio-demographic 'Personal Information Form' consisting of 15 items, a 'Eating Awareness Scale' form consisting of 30 questions, a 'Sports Nutritional Supplements Belief Scale' form consisting of 6 questions, and a 'Psychological Well-being Scale' form consisting of 8 questions were used as data collection tools. In the study, while the majority of the participants were male (68%), 98.1% were single, and 82.4% had a normal body mass index. There is a significant difference between participants' family attitudes and eating awareness (P<0.05). Students with tolerant parents have higher median eating awareness. There is a significant difference between family income classification and SNTBS and PWB (P<0.05). The median score of SNTBS and PWB is higher in those with higher family income. There is a significant difference between students' health status and frequency of physical activity and PWB (P<0.05). As the frequency of physical activity and health status increase, the median score of PWB increases. As a result, there is a significant relationship between students' EA and SNTBS with PWB. While there is a low level of significant relationship between eating awareness and psychological well-being, there is a moderate level of significant relationship between beliefs about sports nutritional supplements and psychological well-being. Avoiding incorrect eating behaviors from a health perspective and increasing awareness of nutrition may create opportunities for students to be successful in their studies.
