Abstract (EN)
This study was carried out to determine the effect of sportive activities on self-confidence levels of 13-14 year olds. Self-esteem formation occurs especially at these ages and affects the success of individuals. Both sports activities and demographic characteristics has been examined in our study in order to see whether they have effect on self-confidence or not. This research was made in Samsun Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports in 2018-2019 season İlkadım, which provides sportive activities, 159 individual and sportive activities for sportive activities in Çarşamba and Bafra Youth Centers 113. In this research, a survey method was preferred among the methods used in applied research. As a data collection tool, a questionnaire consisting of two parts was applied. In the first part, 'Personal Information Form 'was used by the researcher. The personal information form includes demographic information on father's work status, mother's work status, mother's and father's marital status, number of siblings and family income status. In part one; ID form which is prepared by surveyor, in part two; 'self-confidence scale' which is developed by Akın (2007) was used. SPSS statistics tested datas' reliability level as %95 and level of meaningfulness was determined as %5. Before the analysis of the products in our study, the assumption of normality and homogeneity was applied before the Kolmogorov - Smirnov and Levene management hotels had normal distribution (p> 0.05). Since the data showed normal distribution, it was decided to perform parametric analysis. Independent samples t-test and one-way Anova analysis were used to compare the groups. According to the data obtained, it was concluded that there was no significant difference between the internal and external self-confidence scores of the individuals participating in sport activities according to their father's work status, mother's work status, mother's and father's marital status, number of siblings and family income. On the other hand, while there was no significant difference in internal self-confidence sub-dimension in the gender variable, it was found that men's scores were significantly higher in the external self-confidence sub-dimension compared to the women. The level of self-confidence of the participants in sporting activities was higher than those who did not participate in sporting activities (p <0,05). Key Words: Activity, Self-confidence, Sports
