Abstract (EN)
Pumice is a volcanic, spongy, glassy and pore-rich rock, which consists of volcanic reactions and is resistent against physical and chemical factors. It is also known as a very porous volcanic glass stone. In the past it was usually used in the construction of thermal baths and temples. Nowadays good examples of that can be seen .Pumice is because of its chemical and physical features and also because of its high availability in the nature, which make it very economical in handle, used in buildings, textile industry, agriculture and in chemistry and also in a lot of different areas like in jewelry as well as in the metal and glass industry. Dependent on the acidic and alcaline type of pumice, the natural colour varies from white to grey, brown and black. In this study, utilization of pumice were investegated as a raw material in glaze body at 1200 °C. At first stage works of characterization from examples of pumice, taken in the different provinces Bitlis-Tatvan, and Manisa-Gökçeören were achieved, chemical analysises (XRF) so as colour and melting characteristics were identified. Firstly examples of pumices are used as raw materials then later on they are mixed with different meltings together with a glaze recipe and get involved to. After firing the glazes at 1200 °C, changing colours from light cream, brown, red to dark brown with matte and glossy changing surfaces were obtained.
