Abstract (EN)
Polycyanurates hold remarkable potential applications and are worth in-depth research. The study focused on synthesizing a novel s-triazine monomer for the melt polycondensation. The monomer, activated s-triazine, was synthesized in two steps from commercially available starting materials. Activated s-triazine was polymerized with bisphenol-A under reduced pressure in the presence of a basic catalyst. Initial polymerizations were found to show thermal rearrangement, which was further investigated. The thermal rearrangement reaction of s-triazines was studied through thermal exposure experiments, instrumental, and kinetic analyses. To suppress the thermal rearrangement in polycyanurates, solution polymerization at a lower temperature was performed with activated s-triazine in the presence of a basic catalyst.
