Abstract (EN)

In this study, the women detected in Tatar and Bashkir epics are indentified with examples under certain titles and their properties are tried to put forward. For this reason, the positions of women, their roles and functions in the development of the epic, the physical caracteristics and behaviors of the woman based on hero and supporting hero and affects during the epic flow were examined. Their similar and different aspects are investigated. The study which is limited to Tatar and Bashkir epics in Idyl-Ural basin is aimed to reveal the female caracteristics of the epics in the Idyl-Ural region in the northwest Turkish epic tradition, determine the repetitive characteristics and to reveal the view of Tatar and Bashkir communities towards women through epics. Thus, this study will be useful in comparing the women in the epics of the region and the women in other epics. Keywords: Tatar, Baskurt, women, epic
