Abstract (EN)

A Grammar of the Turkish Language is known to be the first book prepared by English for teaching Turkish and it was prepared by a tradesman Thomas Vaughan about whom there is not enough information. In the Ottoman era, the efforts to teach Turkish to English people began in 1709 with this work. In the pages between I-XXIV, there are cover, dedication and preface. In the pages between 1-53, there are 17 parts which are about grammar. The other parts are as follows: Türkçe Konuşmalar (between the pages 54-70, there are five dialogues titled "Türkçe Tekellümât"); Esop Masalları (in the 71st page there is a fable titled "Hikâye veya kıssa"); Atasözleri (between the pages 71-76, there are 53 proverbs titled "durûb-ı emsâl"); Türkçe Sözlük (between the pages 77-103, Turkish words are given as entries and English counterparts are given under the title "Kelimât Türkçe"). The work has been evaluated by Turkish grammarians
