Annealing kinetics of fossil and induced fission tracks in titanites

Abstract (EN)

When a heavy ionized particle travels at a high velocity through a solid, it creates a narrow damaged-district along its way. This damage is permanent after the particle stopped. This damaged-zone is called "track of ionized particle" or "nuclear particle". In this study, annealing kinetics of fossil and induced fission tracks in radiation-damaged and pristine natural titanites have been investigated. The samples have been taken from Mt. Painter of Australia. The first process is mineral separation, then following steps are neutron irradiation, annealing, mounting, grinding, polishing, cutting, etching, counting and analysing. At the end of experiments, the data shows that track fading increases at elevated temperatures. The goal of the study is to support previous works and to suggest a common idea about thermal annealing kinetics of fission tracks in titanite.
