The development process of associations in Trabzon (1919-1950)

The purpose of this thesis is to put forward associations in Trabzon, together with their roots, formation processes, activities, actors. In this way, it is targeted for data to be obtained, inferences to be made to constitute a base for studies ahead, to provide comparison opportunity and to be complementary. Not only does this study fundamentally mention association activities in Trabzon between 1919 and 1950 but also puts forward a section of foundation course of Republican history, Ottoman-Turkish Modernization and development of civil society in Turkey from the country. In the introduction section of the study, which is comprised of 5 sections, firstly descriptions of references were made. In the first section, formation of civil society during the historical course, its conceptual and legal framework has been handled within the context of associations. In addition, stages of association from Ottoman to the Republic were examined. In the second section, information about social aid, solidarity, health, development and beautification associations was given. In the third section are associations with education, culture, social and political purposes. In the fourth section, occupational associations, craftsman associations, associations with trade, economy and agricultural purposes were focused. In the fifth section sports associations were mentioned.
