Abstract (EN)
Professions that require face to face communication, experience burnout more than any other professions. Teaching profession which also requires face to face communication has a great risk of experiencing this syndrome of the modern era. Teachers, who help their students to take their first small steps in their life, can feel overwhelmed by the great responsibility that they took. However, the psychological health of the teachers who train and lead to new generations should be very well. Otherwise the consequences can be grave both for the teachers and their students. The adoption and the implementation of Total Quality management practices at schools can minimize many factors that deteriorate the psychological health of the teachers. In this study, firstly the concept of burnout was studied and the burnout on primary school teachers was examined. Then the Total Quality Management was investigated and the effect of its application at primary schools was argued. Lastly, the relation between the total Quality Management and burnout was determined. The research was conducted on 230 primary school teachers. To collect data, a Personal Information Form, Maslach Burnout Inventory and a questionnaire on Total Quality Management, which was developed by the researcher, were used. The data was resulted with the SPSS 20.0 packet programme and T-test, One Way Anova, Scheffe and Tukey tests, Pearson Coorrelation and Multiple Regression tests were used. The results show that there is a meaningful relation between the burnout and gender, marital status, service life and age. Also, results show that respondents consider the Total Quality Management appliances positively and there is a meaningful relation between the Total Quality Management and burnout. It is obvious from the results of the tests that this management approach has positive effects on teachers? psychological mood. Key Words: Burnout, Total Quality Management, Teacher
