Identification of the factors that cause the burnout of architects and civil engineers working in the Turkish construction undustry

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to identify the factors that cause burnout of architects and civil engineers who work in Turkish construction industry. Accordingly, to collect datas, a survey has been made as a result of literature search. The survey prepared was attended by 180 architects working in an office, 47 architects working in building sites, 149 civil engineers working in office and 240 civil engineers working in building sites in Turkish construction sector. The survey, consists of two parts which include questions about burnout criteria and demographic variables obtained from literature search. Excel and SPSS 22.0 programs are used for data analysis. After the analyses, the factors that cause burnout of architects and civil engineers working in both offices and building sites are identified. On the other hand, it is concluded that differences in the criteria causing burnout of architects and civil engineers working in Turkish construction sector and gender, age, marital status, job position characteristics were the variables affecting burnout level; yet differences in education level are not found to be effective within this context.
