Investigation of the operation of Turkish environmental management and environmental legislation in Trabzon province

Countries seek solutions in national and international dimensions regarding environmental problems attained the serious dimensions that cannot be ignored by human beings especially after the 1970s years. Because of the fact that environment is a concept to be manageable and its importance increase with time, studies increasingly continue in global and regional scale about protection and sustainable management of environment and also prevention of pollution or degradation to minimum level.In the process of harmonization with Europe Union, the Turkish environmental legislation with the Europe Union legislation harmonization efforts are ongoing. In this context, large-scale changes in national legislation came into force. In the first section of the thesis, institutional structuring in environmental organization in Turkey, organizational structure, duties and authorities of the ?Ministry Environment and Urbanism?, development plans and laws were examined. In the third section, environmental problems were divided into dimensions and examined. The functioning of environmental legislation and management works in Turkey and Trabzon Province were examined. It was concluded that overlapping and nonoverlapping parts with legislation of environmental management in Trabzon is because of problem areas like not being provided requirements for the solution of environmental problems in the province of Trabzon neither exactly nor as needed, financial imposibilities, deficiencies in staff, unrestraint or weakness of the power to make inspections, level of public awareness, institutional deficiencies and not being able to form inventories those reveal fully problems.
