Abstract (EN)
Radiation attenuation properties of various types of textile products in use Turkey has been investigated by measuring the mass attenuation coefficients (m/r cm2/gr) of samples for photons with different energy. For this purpose, the samples were irradiated with photons in the energy range 16?362 keV emitted from Am?241 and Ba?133 radioactive point source. For each sample and energy, Io and I intensities which are before and after attenuation were measured by a NaI(Tl) detector coupled to MCA using transmission arrangement. Afterwards mass attenuation coefficients were determined using these intensities. For comparison of radiation attenuation properties of investigated textile products, results were graphically plotted. From these graphics, it is shown that there are important differences in radiation attenuation properties of textile products depending on the type and content of the samples.
