Abstract (EN)
Identity is a social concept. People realizes themselves with their own presences. When the process of forming an identity, history, language and religion are being used. The society form with the people come together around a common purpose and states establishes on a common piece of land. This established state creates different identities. In Turkey, every period was entered into a different identity search and different identities were created and used. States establish national identity for themselves and this identity must be tough and strong. Because this makes states strong at international arena. Different identities have been used in the Ottoman State and in Turkey. Religion is a social phenomenon. Without religion, society can not be created. If people give up a religion, they choose a new religion suitable for them and follow their rules. The religion of Islam has come to the Arabs and has spread to many states. It was seen in Seljuk State and Ottoman Empire. The most brilliant period was in the Ottoman Empire. Religion in Turkey has changed according to the periods. In one party period secularism was applied and religion was excluded. After 1950 and 1980 religion has uptrended. Religious freedoms increased from 2002, after the religion's ascension. Religion is included in the national identity, that is, used as the national identity. The AK Party was founded by those who came from the Fazilet Party and won elections in 2002. From 2002 The AK Party has been in charge. AK Party has formed an identity of conservative democrat. By taking Islam into its identity of conservative democrat, it has tried to bring all the people together. The AK Party made its national identity by using elements of history, culture and patriotism, and these historical and cultural elements reappeared. National identity has been tried to be created through Islam. AK Party has added the Ottoman past and Islam to national identity, used it and in foreign politics foreign policy has been carried out on national identity by using these concepts. Islam was used as national identity in this period. This identity has been used to make good relations in foreign policy and trade.
