Abstract (EN)

Urban masses, which have increased in number due to various reasons in recent years, place considerable pressure on capacity and quality of urban transportation infrastructures. For this reason, the number of transportation options in the urban transport infrastructure and the investments to increase the quality are important.Simulation software provides amenities for planners to explore the feasibility of costly investments such as transportation infrastructure. In this study, the urban transport service option on Van Lake was evaluated in terms of time and cost criteria against the land route in city center. First of all, urban transportation infrastructure of Van city was examined on site and passenger transportation capacities of road vehicles were determined. Then, a certain number of passengers from these calculated capacities have been tested in the simulation model for the proposed sea route transportation option. For this purpose, 12 different tests with 60 different scenarios for these each experiments were created and the most suitable route options for the vessels, the best travel times for the passengers and the resulting operating costs were determined. Simio® simulation software results for the sea route model and the results of the simulated model for road transportation were compared according to 4 different transportation options between the related destinations. The most meaningful result was the searoute superiority over the highway with a difference of 43,58 minutes between the central district of Edremit and the campus of YüzüncüYıl University. On the other hand, between these destinations again the municipal vehicles merely were able to has cost advantage in contrast with the sea route costs with a difference of only 2,273,59 TRY.
