Abstract (EN)

Irony; the implication of the contrary of what is being said is explained as the existence of an invisible meaning under the apparent meaning. However, it is not possible to fit irony, which has a wide history, into a single definition. For this reason, the boundaries of irony, which are redefined according to each period in which it exists, are quite wide. In this study, it is aimed to determine the traces of irony in the work of Vüs'at O. Bener. Wayne C. Booth's literary theory book A Retoric of Irony will be used to evaluate wide-ranging irony. Bener's stories, novels and plays will be evaluated within the scope of determined-undecided irony, which is the product of Booth's effort to limit irony. In the work, it is aimed to explain irony within the scope of determination and indecision by mentioning the methods of finding irony and the elements that limit irony. In the first part of the study, Vüs'at O. Bener's life, art and works will be mentioned first. Then, the definition of irony, its types and Booth's classification of irony will be mentioned. In the second part, it is aimed to determine the stable-unsatable irony in Bener's works.
