Abstract (EN)

The Ottoman court records, the shar’ia records, have an important placein the historyof regional and urban research. These registers are the official records that contain important information about the economic, social, politicaland administrative, structure of the place where they are recorded, as well as the state archiveswhich are included in the probate registers. the Probate Registers provide important information on the social status, demographic structures, marital status, family structures, and all kinds of movable and real estate propertiesof the deceased. The Number 152 of Edirne Shar’ia Records, which is the subject of our study, is also an important resource that brings us to the regional, city, social, economic and cultural structure of Edirne. This book, covering the dates between 1166-1169 Hijriand 1753-1756 Gregorian, consists of 96 pages and 165 provisions. The book contains information that sheds light on many qualites of the city such as the neighborhoods, social, structure, economic activites, titles and nickames used in this period, religious beliefs, political, administrative and demographic structure. In the first part of the thesis, which consists of fourchapters, information is given in general terms about the judicial institution, the records of the shar’ia and the courts of the shar’ia and its features. In the second part, information about the history of Edirne, geographical, social and economic situation of Edirne are given. In the third part, it is given information about administrative units, nation system, and social life and documents are summarized. In the fourth and last section, transcriptions of the provisions in the book are available.
