Abstract (EN)

Sharia documents are of great importance in clarifying the history of the country in previous periods and are one of the most important sources in the history of Ottoman Empire. The Sharia documents is important to shed light on the period of writing because of the information contained in the documents. Provides detailed information about the administrative and military structure, social and economy of the period. As a matter of fact, the Harput document no. 181, which we examined, gives historians important information about the subjects mentioned above. In Harput Sharia document no. 181; cases such as sales contract, credit-issue, inheritance sharing, alimony and grant are in the majority and these cases include articles which are decided by the judge according to the Sharia law and then reach a solid conclusion. While examining the contents of the document, both Muslims and non-Muslims sought their rights equally in these courts. For this reason, Sharia documents are of great importance in terms of illuminating the history of the period.
