Abstract (EN)

Art has functioned in social, cultural, and political aspects within societies from history to the present day. The study highlights how consumer culture has gained momentum through its interaction with the consumption-dependent dynamics of capitalism. This demonstrates the directive influence of capitalism and consumer culture on art. The study presents the interaction of art within capitalism and consumer culture up to the year 1960, along with observations of the models developed by art and political regimes during these processes. Particular attention is given to the communication established by Pop Art, which emerged in the 1950s. The responses of Contemporary Art movements in the 1960s to the capitalist mentality and consumer culture are revealed. The foundations of the globalization of capitalism were laid in the 1980s. From the 1990s onwards, globalized capitalism and consumer culture have asserted their dominance worldwide. Today, the interaction of art and artists, dictated by capital and necessities, can be observed. Alpay's research includes inferences and visual representations regarding the effects of consumer culture and capitalism on art, society, nature, and all living beings in the world.
