The effect of sociological changes in Turkey after 1970 on the color and pattern of Mehmet Güleryüz's

Mehmet Güleryüz was born as a Turkish citizen in 1938. As his family adopted Ottoman traditions which belonged to pre- republican Turkey, he was raised to be influenced by the two cultures. The artist was not only influenced by the political, economical changes of the early years of republic but also social and cultural as a result of this sociological changes have been observed from that era to present. There was a political disturbance in Turkey in 1970. Güleryüz felt intimacy to socio cultural environment of final stage of Ottoman Empire. However; he has also close ties to the in society in which he grew up. When he lived in abroad he felt the necessity of dealing with the political agenda of his country and the Turks whom he lived together with. Throughout his art life Mehmet Güleryüz has created works of art which reflect the society's change and problems. The technique which Güleryüz has used I can be regarded as a tool which helps him convey his annoyance and the subject of his works of art. Class discrimination in the society, women abuse, nature destruction, politics, personality disorder, sexuality, animal rights are the subject matters of his work. The artist has reflected sociological events in Turkey and his annoyance about these subjects very strikingly through his works which he created different period. Within the context of this study, the works of Mehmet Güleryüz has been scrutinized and studied to be influenced by these works on my personal performance.
