Abstract (EN)

Expressionism arose in political instability and economical depression times as a reaction to the existing system due to social, economical and cultural existences affect each other.In the first section of the study, it is given a short history of German Expressionism movement and it is investigated that the social environments and periodical artistic approaches of the leading to arise of the 20th century German Expressionism.In the second section, groups which constitute the Expressionism movement and differences among these groups are investigated.In the third part of the study, it is scrutinized that the reflections of the war phenomenon to the Expressionism movement. It is investigated that the realities about deformations, color using of the works of expressionist artist.The research was designed in document scanning method. The research was restricted to the effects of the World War I to the 20th century German Expressionism.Keywords: Expressionism, War, Reaction, Violance, Movements.
