Bibliometric and content analysis of articles related to COVID-19 in public health in international literature in 2020

Abstract (EN)

Objective: This study was aimed to conduct bibliometric and content analysis of research articles published in the field of public health related to COVID-19 in 2020 and to make quality evaluations of cross-sectional research articles published in this field. Material-Method: Filtering and with the specified keywords total of 2949 publications were reached in the search made in the Web of Science database. A bibliometric and content analysis of 1553 research articles was conducted in line with the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study. The quality assessment of 38 of 410 cross-sectional research articles was made by two different researchers using the "AXIS Quality Assessment Tool". Microsoft Excel, VOSviever 1.6.2 and Phyton software were used for analysis. Results: As a result of the bibliometric and content analysis conducted for 1553 research articles, it was found that there are 113 countries, 2706 institutions, 8703 authors in this field; totally 3471 different keywords were used and these articles were published in 179 academic journals. It has been determined that the most productive country is the USA; the most productive authors are Ho, Cyrus S. H .; Ho, Roger C. M., and Latkin, Carl A .; the most productive institution is Wuhan University and the most productive academic journal is "International Journal Of Environmental Research And Public Health". The themes of the studied subjects were revealed by using keywords and the title and summary parts of the articles. Quality assessment scores of cross-sectional studies were determined as 15.7 ± 2.3. Conclusion: It has been concluded that the response of the scientific world to the COVID-19 pandemic is fast and high quality. While giving this answer, it can be said that epidemiologically suspicious methods are widely used and new normals have emerged in terms of research methodology.
