Developing a nurse trust scale with 360 degree evaluation

Trust is a very important concept in the field of health, where human relations, interactions and cooperation are intense. In the study, it was aimed to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool that will determine the level of trust towards nurses with the 360-degree evaluation method. The sample of the explanatory factor analysis of the study consisted of 150 nurses, 150 physicians, 150 other health personnel, 150 non-health personnel and 150 patients working in hospitals in Trabzon city center, while the sample of the confirmatory factor analysis consisted of 120 nurses, 66 physicians, 71 health personnel, 73 non-health personnel and 72 patients who were outside the sample of the exploratory factor analysis in the same city center. The test-retest was conducted with a total of 51 participants. Datas were collected with Personal Information Form, Draft Nurse Trust Scale. According to the findings, the surface validity of the draft scale was ensured and the content validity index was fixed as 0.75. For explanatory factor analysis, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value was 0.979, Barlett test X2=48070.025 (p<0.05), anti-image correlation values were between 0.971 and 0.985. In the explanatory factor analysis, it was determined that the scale was shaped with 30 items and 3 sub-dimensions, and the factor load values of the items were between 0.940 and 0.675. In confirmatory factor analysis, the corrected Χ2/Sd value was 2.75, RMSEA= 0.07, CFI= 0.93, NFI= 0.895, IFI= 0.93, TLI= 0.924. The structure of the Nurse Trust Scale, which was formed by explanatory factor analysis according to these good/acceptable indices, was confirmed. The reliability of the scale was determined as Spearman-Brown=0.901, Guttman Split-Half=0.901 and Cronbach Alpha value as 0.971. Item-total item correlation values were 0.620-0.834, r=0.819 (p<0.001) and t=-0.712 0.480 (p>0.05) in test-retest analysis. In addition, the scale total score average of the participants was 4.05±0.64. Participants' satisfaction with working with nurses and receiving services affected their trust (p<0.05). As a result, the nurse trust scale, which was evaluated as 360 degrees with the participation of nurses, physicians, other health and non-health workers and patients, can be accepted as a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be measured accurately and consistently.
