Abstract (EN)

Sharia registers are of great importance in Ottoman history research and local history research. Kadıs recorded their correspondence with the central government, as well as their complaints and requests, edicts and provisions accepted as legal regulations of local administrations, and most importantly, court decisions reflecting the social and economic life of the region to which they belonged. It is not possible to fully know the political, administrative and social history of the Ottoman Empire without examining these books, known as sharia registers. Again, the primary source of research on the history of cities and local life in various regions is the Sharia registers. There are many records in the Kastamonu Sharia Registry H.1204/M.1789 book No. 66 that we examined. A significant part of these consists of huccah and Islamic documents. In addition, decrees, charters, orders, letters, tamessuk, foundation deeds, ledgers and estate records are also abundant in the book. Based on these documents, it was tried to determine the socio-economic, cultural, legal and administrative situation of Kastamonu. In the transcription part of the thesis, each leaf and the documents in the leaf were given a number, and the same method was applied in the document summaries section to make the research more practical. Kastamonu Şey'iyye Registry No. 66, which constitutes the main source of our study, is the registry book dated H.1204/M.1789 belonging to H. and Kastamonu.
