Abstract (EN)

In this study, we examined generally the life and literary personality of the Palestinian poet Abd al- Karim al- Karmi and his works who made great contributions to the modern Arabic literature with his unique style poetry and one of the Palestinians who had been expatriated from their own homeland after establishment of İsrael state in 1948. The exile poet, who effectively worked his people's anguish and hope of return to homeland in his poems yet could not return to Palestine after the Nakbah, is accepted as one of the pioneers of return to homeland literature which appeared in 1948 as a new genre. In the first section of our study, we dealt with modern Arabic poetry, modern Palestinian poetry and return to homeland literature with their outlines. In the second section we examined life, literary personality, and essential features and literary qualities of poems of the poet who is known as Abu Salma in the world of literature. In the third section, we examined the genres of poems written by Abu Salma and we gave place to examples of his poems. In this thesis, we used the sources particularly in Arabic, English and Turkish. While preparing this work, we made use of the libraries in Palestine due to the lack of sufficient sources in our country and tried to serve all of the datas we obtained in an order. With this study, we also aimed to introduce his return to homeland literature of which he is the pioneering personality to Turkish researchers. Key Words: Modern Arabic Literature, Modern Palestinian Poetry, Return to Homeland Literature, İmmigration Literature, The Hope of Return, Nakbah, Abu Salma, Exile.
