Abstract (EN)
Objective: Examine the patients with skin laceration, who visits the Emergency Department of Akdeniz University Hospital between 1 January 2014 and 30 June 2014. Material and Method: All the patients with skin laceration, who visited the Emergency Department of Akdeniz University Hospital between 1 January 2014 and 30 June 2014; retrospectively examined by looking electronically data files of ICD 10 codes, emergency department or inpatient service archives. Results: 1625 patients with skin laceration were examined. Proportion of men 76,9%, women 23,1%. Median age was 26. 474 of patients (29,1%) were under 18 and 65 of (0.4%) were elder than 65 years. Localization of wounds were most commonly in hand (n=649, 39,9%), after that face (n=363, 22,3%) and head (n=271, 16,7%). Mechanism of trauma 55,9% proption was blunt and 41% is penetrating. The mean size of the wounds was 3,03 cm. 466 of patients had subcutaneous tissue damage that needed to repair (28,7%). 151 patient had additional system trauma (9.2%). 74,9% of wounds repaired in emergency department (n=1217) and 408 patient needed operation room (25,1%). 83,2% of patients who treated in emergency (n=1013), repaired with local anesthesia. 190 patient (15,6%) repaired with sedation analgesia. After treatment 2 patient had hematoma, 3 patients were wound opening, 1 patient had tissue necrosis. Rate of complications could be detected were 0,4%. Conclusion: In Akdeniz University Hospital Emergency Department visits, amount of patients with skin laceration increased over the years. Most of patients repaired in emergency department with local anesthesia. Complications were vey rare. Demographic datas of the wounds were similar to other demographic studys in medical literature.
