The Relationship Between Preoperative Anxiety and Postoperative Coplications of Open Heart SurgeryThe mainly dealt with the physical care of the patients who underwent open heart operation, but the failure of a psychological assessment and a planned discharge education leads to anxiety.The present study aims to investigate the relationship between postoperative complications with preoperative anxiety in patients who underwent open heart surgery.60 patients aged 37-84 who underwent an open heart surgery between december 2010- may 2011 at the Heart and Vein Surgery Clinics of Afyon Kocatepe University Hospital and Private Park Hospital included to study.Sociodemographic characteristics of patients was determined and the anxiety levels were measured by Staite-Trait Anxiety Inventory, 10-item questionnaire about complications was administered.Available data coded and transferred to SPSS program. Person Correlation Coefficients, student t ?test, varians analysis were performend for statistical analysis.According to results of the study, we found a significent relationship between insomnia, nutrission changes, change in mental state with the anxiety.
