Abstract (EN)

There are many published studies propose several empiric formulations or model techniques in the current literature. In this study, a fuzzy model depends on the SMRGT method (Simple Membership Functions and Fuzzy Rules Generation Technique) which is a new method in the literature has been developed to determine the water surface profile in open canal under different hydraulic conditions. The reasons for choosing this model are giving more realistic results and simpler than the other conventional methods available in the current literature. The model was tested applying to experimentally obtained data sets; include the geometry of the floor sill, the floor sill height, and the distinct from the top of the floor sill, which are the inputs of the model as the independent variables. The model's results were compared with the real data experimentally obtained. The comparison shows that the model has very high performance in estimating the water surface profile in open canals. For the aim, in the introduction section of the thesis, the goal and the importance of the subject were given, and the literature review has been reported in the second section. In the third section , the data used to test the model and the experimental works were explained, andthe methodology has been presented in detail. The development of the model, the model results, and the comparison have been detailed in the fourth section. In the last chapter, the important results and some recommendations were discussed and concluded.
