Abstract (EN)

The increase in demand for a more qualified life and an increase parallel with world population, has caused an increase material and goods. As known, most of the raw materials are obtained by underground and surface mining activities. The large parts of production is carried out by open pit mining. During this process, it is possible to face hazards and high risks in terms of occupational health and safety. The accident risks of the labors should be reduced to a minimum level by proactive approaches. In this study, drilling and blasting, other mining activities such as loading and carrying are examined by the use of various risk assessment methods (Checklist Method, L Type Matris Method) in an opencast mining which is a part of Magnesit A.Ş (Eskişehir). All the precautions that to be taken are specified and results are given in detail for the risky occasions in order to reduce it to an acceptable level.
