Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, drilling and blasting operation of the Seyitomer coal mine was examined as well as general drilling and blasting techniques, this study an improve drilling and blasting technique was tried to developed. In open pit mining where blasting is employed for excavation, the overall cost effectiveness of the production operations is compatible with optimization of drilling and blasting.Selecting the appropriate type of drilling equipment, bit diameter and explosive type with respect to rock characteristics, is a prerequisite for the optimization of drilling and blasting. It should be noted that the most of the explosives employed in mining engineering is of a nonideal type and furthermore the performance parameters vary with the borehole diameter.A blasting operation should then be optimized through some controllable blasting parameters, upon the selection of appropriate drilling equipment and explosive type. Blasting characteristics of rectangular and stagger blasting patterns which are more commonly used in excavation in open pit mining have been compared in the field under similar conditions. The work has included a focus on fragmentation sizing and muckpile distribution profile with respect to explosive type and drilling pattern.
