Abstract (EN)

Acikbash Mahmud Afandi (d. 1077/1666) was one of the scholars of the Naqshbandi order during the Ottoman period. He was born in Amid, which is located in the province of Diyarbakir, and received his basic education from his uncle, Aziz Mahmud Urmavi. He continued his educational activities in various places, primarily in Diyarbakir. Influenced by his conversations with the rulers of that period, he decided to become like them and was appointed as the Governor of Mardin, where he served for a certain period of time. In addition to his mystical (tasawwufi) works, Acikbash Mahmud Afandi wrote a work called al Guzide fi ilmi'l tajweed on the science of recitation (Tajweed). Our study focuses on Acikbash Mahmud Afandi and his work al Guzide fi ilmi'l tajweed. The study consists of an introduction, two chapters, and a conclusion. The first chapter provides information about Acikbash Mahmud Afandi's life and works. In the second chapter, the treatise and the available copies of the treatise are discussed and analyzed. The conclusion section presents the findings of the thesis and provides an overall evaluation of the topic.
