The organization of the Justice Party in Izmir and its place in our political life (1961-1971)

The aim of the thesis titled "The İzmir Organization of the Justice Party and Its Place in Our Political Life (1961-1971)" is to examine the organization of the Justice Party in İzmir from its establishment to the 12 March 1971 memorandum and its relationship with the political events in Turkish political life. After the May 27, 1960 Military Coup, the Justice Party assumed the responsibility for the transfer of military administration to civilians, with the support of the people, emphasizing that it was the continuation of the Democratic Party. What happened in the last decade is of great importance for Turkish political history. The reason for examining the period in Izmir is to reveal the development it showed in local politics during the restructuring process as a city that has been the center of civilization for centuries. This study consists of four parts after the introduction. In the introduction part, the period of the Democratic Party, the May 27 Revolution and the process of re-establishing political life after it were mentioned. In the first part, the formation of the Justice Party organization in Izmir; establishment studies specific to provinces and districts were examined. In the second part, the elections held between 1961-1964, the development of the Izmir organization of the Justice Party and its non-electoral activities are discussed. In the third part, the propaganda activities and non-election activities of the Justice Party in İzmir are discussed. In the fourth part, the changing social dynamics between 1969-1971 and the activities of the Justice Party in Izmir are mentioned. In the conclusion part, it has been determined that İzmir is an important center for the Justice Party and that İzmir has a decisive role in Turkish politics.
