Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to comprehensively evaluate the relationship between aerobic and anaerobic performance and muscle fiber type in healthy 49 young men. Aerobic/anaerobic capacity and isokinetic strength measurements were performed. Participants were divided into two groups according to their maximal oxygen consumption capacity (VO₂max) values: Group 1 (VO₂max ≤ 36.7 mL/kg/min, n = 24) and Group 2 (36,8 ≤ VO₂max < 41 mL/kg/min, n = 25). As a result of the analysis, moderate positive correlations were found between the extensor fatigue index (Yİeks%) from isokinetic strength parameters and aerobic performance parameters (r = 0.427**, r = 0.597**, r = 0.680**); similarly, moderate positive correlations were identified between the flexor fatigue index (Yİfle%) and aerobic parameters (r = 0.379**). Significant differences were observed between the groups in Yİeks% (p = 0.00) and Yİfle% (p = 0.01) values. Additionally, statistically significant differences were detected between the groups in terms of relative anaerobic threshold (AEr) (p = 0.02*), relative ventilatory threshold (VEr) (p = 0.00***) and VO₂max (p = 0.00***). In contrast, no significant relationship was found between anaerobic test results and isokinetic strength parameters (p > 0.05). In conclusion, it is observed that the isokinetic strength values determined through the isokinetic test performed with 50 repetitions at an angular velocity of 180°·s⁻¹ are largely influenced by neuromuscular and/or morphological factors associated with maximal aerobic capacity.
