Abstract (EN)

The presented study material consisted of 58 randomly selected dogs, aged between 4 and 252 months, brought to Afyon Kocatepe University Animal Hospital for examination. In this study, it was aimed to determine clinically the incidence and distribution of heart diseases in dogs by echocardiographic examination. As a result of the study, 14 of the dogs that made up the material were diagnosed with acquired heart diseases. Distribution of diagnosed heart diseases; mitral valve regurgitation (n=9), pericardial effusion (n=2), dilated cardiomyopathy (n=1), mitral valve stenosis (n=1) and tricuspid valve regurgitation (n=1). The results obtained emphasize mitral insufficiency as the most common cardiac disease in the study group. The study data revealed that heart diseases were found in 24.1% of canine patients brought to the veterinarian for any reasons. It is recommended that patients who apply to veterinary clinics, polyclinics and animal hospitals should also be checked for cardiac aspects.
