Knowledge, attitüde and behaviour of students Afyon Kocatepe Universty about organ donation

This descriptive research was performed to determine knowledge, attitude and behaviour of Afyon Kocatepe University students about organ donation.As a way of collecting data, a questionnare was performed to 1029 students of Afyon Kocatepe University, faculty and graduate schools by stratified sempling method.According to the results of the research; only 2.1% of the students donated their organs, 42.2% of them have written ?kidney? in first order, as donatable organ, 57.8% of faculty students and 45.9% of graduate school students have knowledge about partial liver transplantation, 69.9% of faculty students know that cadaver and alive people can be donors, 85,5% of them think positive to donate their couple organs, 27,5% of students indicated that they sometimes have hasitations about doctors? decisions on brain death.A total of 57.5% of faculty students expressed that a person who diagnosed as brain death can return to life, 85.6% expressed ?the unsufficiency of organ donations? as the most important barrier in front of organ donation, 82.2% of them believed the necessity of national union on this subject, 35.8% of the students did not agree on the idea of religional barrier on organ donation, for 62,4% of them the receiver was not important. While 69,8% of them declined that the positive support of thir families would affect the decision of their organ donation.
