Abstract (EN)
Live weight and body measurements of 250 Pirlak ewes and 19 rams were examined. This is the first study in this context and there are no other studies on the Pirlak sheep. Least squares means for live weight, height at withers, chest girth, chest depth, shank circumference, rump width and body length were 79,042±0,798 kg,79,938±0,331 cm, 105,107±0,604 cm, 34,297±0,183 cm, 23,185±0,125 cm, 9,517±0,043 cm, 21,757±0,119 cm, 80,817±0,353 cm respectively. Effects of gender and farm operations were highly significant (P<0,01) on live weight and body measurements. The effects of age was found to be non significant in height at withers, hearth girth and shank circumference whereas this factor were significantly (P<0,01) effected the live weight and the other body measurements. As a result it was found for the Pirlaks to be superior from some major native sheep breeds. The project named Animal Improvement in Private Farm Conditions gave birth some successful and in desirable results.
