Abstract (EN)
The radiation, which people exposed, contains 50 % radon and it?s decay products. Reactivity of radon is weak. Therefore, it isn?t bound to the tissue chemically when inhaled. However, radon decay products generate radioactive aerosols by clinging radioactive dust and other particles. Thus it can be obtained through the respiratory system and in risky regions such as mines, even if not directly radon gas concentration may lead to several risks in terms of human health. The aim of this study is to determine the activity of radon gas in mines in Afyonkarahisar where the 24 % of marble quarries are located. For this purpose radon gas analysis were made in the Nuclear Physics Laboratory of Physics Department S.A.F. Afyon Kocatepe University on the samples of soil gas which were taken periodically in from eight different points in İsçehisar. As a result it was found that the radon activities determined are raged from 9,98 Bq/L to 116,39 Bq/L which seem in the permitted limits in terms of human health.
