Abstract (EN)
Per year nearly 100 million tons of aggregates are used in road construction in Turkey. The quality of aggregates as a main material of the construction of road pavements layers, is very important from the point of view of mechanical resistance, long service life, traffic safety and environmental impacts. The long-term performance of hot mix asphalt is strongly dependent on the characteristics of the aggregate in the mixture. In this study was determined to aim of the effect of aggregates dusty degree on bitumen binders. Flexible pavements affected adhesion between to bitumen and aggregate due to layer of dust on the surface of aggregate. This study, aggregates were supplied to two different quarry. Aggregates samples performed to specific gravity tests, unit weight, sieve analysis, water absorption, Los Angeles Abrasion, aggregate impact loss value (AIV), and MgSO4 Soundness were performed. As Hot mix asphalt pavement tests; Nicholson stripping, Vialit, Indirect tensile, Marshall Stability-Flow and Mechanical Marshall Immersion were performed. Aggregate samples divided into three classes; dusty, average dusty, dust free at the Marshall-Flow test and were produced six different type Marshall-flow tests samples. Test results, layer of dust on the surface of aggregate were observed significantly affected adhesion between to bitumen and aggregate.
