Syntax in Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar's Novel "Huzur" ABSTRACT In this work, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar's novel "Huzur" is reviewed from the point of syntax. The main purpose of this work is to shed light on the sentence units' and the word groups' features by working on the novel named "Huzur".In this work, the productions created before about Turkish syntax is accepted as main limits. A classification is made by reviewing different resources and the examples in the novel.This is a text-centered work, aiming to make detections about sentence units and word groups from a sample taken from a Republic Period Turkish Novel.This work is made up of four chapters. In the introduction, some information is given about the novel and the novelist whose work was analyzed, and the reason why this novel was chosen.In the first chapter of the work, word groups and the structure of these word groups are exemplifed based on the creations which are written about Turkish syntax such as articles and dissersations.In the second chapter of the work, detections about sentences and sentence units are shown again, by the examples found in the novel.In our third chapter, sentence types are identified by its general features one by one and exemplified from the novel.In our fourth chapter, thirty random sentences chosen from novel's several chapters are analyzed from the point of sentence units and word groups. And finally, the resources which are used in this work of ours are given. KEYWORDS Syntax, Word Groups, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, Huzur.
